Dulwich Estate Go Ahead!
We’re excited to share that we’ve received the green light for our latest project on the Dulwich Estate!
Our clients approached us seeking a more practical and flexible living space as part of a full refurbishment of their 1930s home. Through close collaboration, it became clear that the existing ground-floor wrap-around extension was no longer fit for purpose. And together, we developed a proposal to replace it with a contemporary extension, subtly enlarged into the rear garden to better suit the needs of a growing young family.
The new design steps the ground-floor extension in form and features low-pitched roofs to reduce visual impact on neighbouring properties, while still offering generous ceiling heights for key spaces such as the kitchen and dining areas. Sustainability has been central to our approach, with a super low-energy timber frame structure, clad in stone and timber to minimise embodied carbon. A stone-clad planter integrated into the rear elevation also supports biodiversity.
To maximise daylight and solar gain, we’ve included generous rear fenestration throughout. Slimline aluminium frames from Maxlight will ensure uninterrupted views into the garden, while new four-track, double-glazed sliding doors provide a strong indoor-outdoor connection and enhance flexibility and flow.
