We Won!! Darren Oldfield Architects wins LABC London Awards
We are delighted to announce that we were announced the winners of the LABC London award 2019 for best alteration or extension to an existing home. Our beautiful Choumert House in Peckham was the winning project announced at the LABC regional awards ceremony at the Guildhall, home of the City of London Corporation. Needless to say we are over the moon to see this particularly beautiful project recognised in this way!
Spring 2019
The first month of the year is well behind us, and with it no doubt many of the resolutions that seemed so fresh on 1st January. But the lengthening days and shoots of new growth mean that transformation and renewal are on their way. We’ve had a flood of enquiries since the start of 2019, and if you are one of them, we want to congratulate you on taking the first step towards a happier, better-designed home. To inspire you, we’re showcasing some of the transformational projects that we’ve recently completed. Our clients regularly feed back to us how delighted they are with their new home spaces. While those first stages can feel intimidating, each of them tells us that it was worth it to create standout spaces for their families to grow into.
Autumn 2018
The slow, warm slide towards the Autumn has given us a chance to reflect on how far we’ve come since we began in October 2013. We’ve just celebrated our five year anniversary, and our most recent appointment to the practice, Phil, also brings our staff up to five! We’re pleased to see that our ethos of light, thoughtfully designed, voluminous spaces for living is working so well for our clients: you can see a snapshot of a couple of our projects below. We’re proud to invest in our majority-female staff, and pleased that the rest of the industry is beginning to address the gender imbalances that have long existed within Architecture. Despite one of the hottest summers on record in London, we’ve also had no shortage of new projects and enquiries.

Featured in Ideal Home Magazine
Our Ryedale project in East Dulwich was recently featured in the June 2018 edition of Ideal Home Magazine. As our clients explain, extending upwards into the loft made their home calmer, lighter and more fit for purpose.
Spring 2018: Scandinavia in Streatham
We’ve been busy in the two years since we sent out our last newsletter. We have a new, talented team member in our new, bigger office in West Dulwich; we’ve improved our website (bigger better pictures!), and our latest completed projects are picking up award nominations! Here’s a quick recap on what we’ve been up to and what’s coming next…
Planning permission in Camberwell
The first of two planning permissions received today! A wonderfully simple full width rear extension to a 1950s ground floor flat adjacent Myatts Fields in Camberwell. The palette of red danish brick and thin dark framed timber windows sits well against the original property.
Planning permission in East Dulwich
Our second planning success of the day! This time in East Dulwich – a partial wrap around extension on Underhill Road. The rear elevation features a zinc and timber roof canopy.
New commission in Highgate
We’re delighted to have recently been appointed to transform this stunning Edwardian property close to Highgate station in North London. We will be renovating the cellar, constructing a full width rear extension, and refurbishing the upper floors, with new bathrooms, and joinery.
Don't Move Improve Awards - Exhibition
We’re really pleased that our Shakespeare Road project has been recognised by New London Architecture as part of their exhibition on London’s best house transformations of 2017. Alongside other selected projects, we’ll be exhibiting at the Building Centre from January 26th – March 30th 2018.
Good progress in Beckenham
Our Art Deco extension in Beckenham is beginning to take shape. Nice to see the brickwork curves coming together!
